Meatless Monday!

This past weekend foodies celebrated #WorldVegetarianDay on October 1st. Over 12,000 posts were made with the hashtag on Twitter and Instagram alone, which helped spread awareness of eating more veggies. #meatlessmonday has become a trend alongside #tacotuesday and #wafflewednesday. With the nation becoming aware of the environmental effects of eating meat, more local restaurants in Orlando have been offering vegetarian or vegan options for guests. However, just because vegetarianism/veganism are more towards the plant-based side, does NOT mean these dishes lack flavor or filling. Guaranteed that you won’t be able to tell the difference between meat and these meatless alternatives. You never really know until you give it a try so go out and try some of these Orlando favorites.

Toasted’s Truffle Cheese Fries

Fries are a go-to side for any sandwich, but when they are fried in truffle oil it becomes a party in your mouth. These fries from @gettoasted are vegan-friendly, offering a dairy-free alternative cheese to satisfy your ooey-gooey cravings.

Leguminati’s Crunchwraps

Late night, 4th meal? A spin-off from Taco Bell’s crunchwrap, this “veganized” goodness combines meatless ground beef, lettuce, diced tomato, a crunchy tostada, sour cream, cheddar cheese sauce and extra shredded cheese sandwiched in a grilled flour tortilla.

Hubbly Bubbly’s Falafel Hummus Bowl

Valhalla’s Doughnuts

Vegan desserts are a must to satisfy that sweet tooth and @valhallabakery most certainly delivers. Voted Orlando’s Best Bakery by @orlandoweekly, these doughnuts are made fresh and change daily. Ranging from your seasonal pumpkin spice to the peanut butter oreo and fruity pebbles in between, you wouldn’t even believe it was eggless and dairy free.
