As 2015 comes to a close, it only seems fitting that we dwell on the culinary geniuses that have risen throughout the past 12 months. Here are The Naughty Fork’s top 10 restaurant openings of 2015.

1. BYBLOS

There are very few things wrong with this Mediterranean-styled restaurant. One of which might be the prices, but they’re totally worth it. The food is absolutely amazing along with the decor. The portions are small and tapas-style which coincide with the family sharing style in Miami. Must Orders: Black Truffle Pide, Dumplings, the Yogurt Baked Fluke, and for dessert you must get the nitrogen frozen greek yogurt.

2. IZZY’S OYSTER BAR

Izzy’s is definitely the cutest addition to the Miami Beach scene. By cute, I mean the decor and atmosphere. And maybe the waiters too. The food is delicious, and the oysters are to die for. The drinks are also unique and pair nicely with the food. The time and dedication put into the seafood are present in every dish. Must Orders: Lobster Roll, Lobster Poutine, Fried Clam Bellies.

3. ALTER

Finally! A restaurant that serves Miami Spice all year ‘round. This place not only beat the odds but kicked them in the ass. Everyone said that fine dining wouldn’t last in Wynwood, but Alter proved them wrong. The little restaurant in the heart of Wynwood provides the most unique twists on some popular foods we all love. They also provide an intimate atmosphere and wine pairings for your three-course dining experience. Must Order: Blue Crab Shumai, BLT.

4. BAZI

It was a no-brainer that BaZi was going to be as successful as it was this year, having been owned by the Macchialina crew. The place is a typical Miami hot-spot. It’s loud with pompous chatter and swarming with waiters trying to satisfy everyone’s needs. You gotta love it. The menu is small, and the portions aren’t too large either, but the food will blow you away. I’m obsessed with gyoza and steamed buns, so those dishes were at the top of my list. If you like noodles, definitely order the duck udon. SO good. Definitely, make reservations in advance, the place is always packed.

5. THE CONTINENTAL

[image src=”http://thenaughtyfork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/openings_8.jpg” width=”” height=”” align=”” caption=”” link=”” link_image=”” target=”” alt=”” border=”0″ greyscale=”0″ animate=””]

The Continental is a hodgepodge of foods from around the world. It’s probably the only place you can get a Philly cheesesteak egg roll while also ordering gyoza. I’m a huge fan of this place because it pleases everyone with the wide variety of menu options. The drinks also come in awesome mugs so you might accidentally drink more than you wanted just because you look cool. The atmosphere has an upscale jungle theme to it and serves brunch and dinner seven days a week.

6. SUNNY’S

[image src=”http://thenaughtyfork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/openings_10.jpg” width=”” height=”” align=”” caption=”” link=”” link_image=”” target=”” alt=”” border=”0″ greyscale=”0″ animate=””]

Although the grand opening has yet to come, Sunny’s is open for the foodies of Miami. Not only is the food bomb, but the presentation is also awesome too. The drinks come in toucan, seahorse and shark mugs with stories behind all 3 of them. They even have Swedish fish in the drinks… yea, we’ll take 3. The burger is TO DIE FOR and has a Miami twist to it. Save room for dessert folks, you don’t want to leave without trying the s’mores or the churros with Nutella.

7. DIRT

*Calling all healthy peeps… another awesome health-food spot has been added to the Miami Beach scene* Although I’m not one to brag about restaurants that help you lose weight, I have a soft spot for this one. The food is absolutely delicious and almost makes you forget it’s on the healthy side. Try any of the bowls, savory or sweet. The juices are awesome too.

8. JAYA

[image src=”http://thenaughtyfork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/openings_13.jpg” width=”” height=”” align=”” caption=”” link=”” link_image=”” target=”” alt=”” border=”0″ greyscale=”0″ animate=””]
[image src=”http://thenaughtyfork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/openings_14.jpg” width=”” height=”” align=”” caption=”” link=”” link_image=”” target=”” alt=”” border=”0″ greyscale=”0″ animate=””]

Asian food is one of my favorites. I’m pretty sure all Miami folks get weak at the knees for it too. Jaya officially opened at the Setai in December and has drawn people in from all over. This Asian-fusion restaurant has some great dishes, from pork belly ramen to truffle dumplings. The chili martini is also one of the best drinks I’ve ever had. The atmosphere fits the dim-lighted date night while also appealing to the “Im-single-and-loving-it” girls night.

9. MARION

[image src=”http://thenaughtyfork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/openings_16.jpg” width=”” height=”” align=”” caption=”” link=”” link_image=”” target=”” alt=”” border=”0″ greyscale=”0″ animate=””]
[image src=”http://thenaughtyfork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/openings_17.jpg” width=”” height=”” align=”” caption=”” link=”” link_image=”” target=”” alt=”” border=”0″ greyscale=”0″ animate=””]

Marion recently opened in the Brickell area and serves some delicious French cuisine. It’s brasserie meets upscale dining feel makes it the perfect place for a date night. It can be pricey, but the food is worth it. The charcuterie and cheese selection is brought right to the table for you to decide. The waiters know exactly what kind of wines pair with what foods so you don’t have to try to impress your date with your wine expertise… or lack thereof. The desserts are fabulous, and I highly recommend the profiteroles.

10. PLETHORE ET BALTHAZAR

[image src=”http://thenaughtyfork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/openings_18.jpg” width=”” height=”” align=”” caption=”” link=”” link_image=”” target=”” alt=”” border=”0″ greyscale=”0″ animate=””]
[image src=”http://thenaughtyfork.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/openings_19.jpg” width=”” height=”” align=”” caption=”” link=”” link_image=”” target=”” alt=”” border=”0″ greyscale=”0″ animate=””]

This place is kind of a hidden gem. The chef and sous chef are two of the best you can find having worked in Michelin star restaurants for years. The cuisine is an incorporation of all European countries. Definitely, try the croquetas, patatas bravas, and the paella. I think this restaurant deserves all the recognition it can get. P&B allows for everyone to enjoy whether you’re on a date, stopping by for tapas after Nikki Beach, dining for business, or enjoying a meal with the family.
