Levain Cookie in a Mug

Many people ask about the Levain 2.0 recipe and how it could be made into smaller portions! Here are the ingredients and steps to making a single portion of Levain cookie so nothing goes to waste! This actually makes two mug cookies, so you might want to share with a friend (or not ;))


  • 1/2 stick unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 egg
  • 3/4 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp corn starch
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup Dark chocolate Ghirardelli chocolate
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts


  • preheat oven to 400
  • cream together sugars and butter until smooth in a mixing bowl
  • mix in half of one egg (mix egg in a separate bowl and pour in half of the mixture). stir until smooth
  • mix all dry ingredients together: salt, flour, cornstarch, baking soda and mix with the wet ingredients
  • stir until dough has formed
  • fold in chocolate chips and walnuts
  • split into two balls, place in fridge for 20-30 minutes (optional)
  • place each ball in a its own mug and bake at 400 for 12 minutes
