let’s make something Naughty

French Style Hot Chocolate

make me

Ingredients

Serving Size: 4 cups

  • 11/2 cups whole milk

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 8oz good-quality dark chocolate (preferably 70% cocoa, or more)

  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar

  • 1/2 tsp espresso powder

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • A pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Heat the milk: In a saucepan, whisk the whole milk, cream, vanilla, espresso powder and powdered sugar over medium heat, stirring occasionally. You want it to get hot but not boiling.

  2. Melt the chocolate: While the milk is heating, chop your dark chocolate into small pieces so it melts evenly. Once the milk is hot, add the chopped chocolate into the saucepan.

  3. Stir the mixture: Stir continuously until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture becomes smooth and creamy.

  4. Adjust sweetness and flavor: Taste the hot chocolate. If you'd like it sweeter, add sugar to taste and stir until dissolved. You can also add a pinch of sea salt for extra depth of flavor.

  5. Serve: Pour the hot chocolate into mugs, and feel free to top it with whipped cream, marshmallows, or a dusting of cocoa powder.

Nothing says I love myself like drinking French-style hot chocolate. Its a rich, creamy, and indulgent treat made with high-quality chocolate and whole milk. It’s thicker and more luxurious than regular hot cocoa and we like thick over here.
