make me

Ingredients

Serving Size: 4 people

For the Garlic Butter Bread Bowl:

  • 2 small sourdough or boule bread loaves

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese

For the gnocchi:

  • 1 lb potato gnocchi (store-bought or homemade)

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • ½ cup pesto (basil pesto, or mix it up with arugula or sun-dried tomato pesto)

  • ¼ cup heavy cream (optional, for a creamier sauce)

  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan

  • Red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)

  • 1 ball burrata (for topping)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Bread Bowl:

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Slice off the top of each bread loaf and hollow out the center, leaving about a ½-inch thick wall. (Save the bread for dipping!)

  • In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, and salt.

  • Brush the inside and edges of the bread bowl generously with the garlic butter. Sprinkle Parmesan inside if using.

  • Place the bread bowls on a baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until golden and crispy.

2. Cook the gnocchi:

  • Boil gnocchi according to package instructions, then drain.

  • In a large pan, melt butter over medium heat. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant.

  • Stir in the pesto (and heavy cream if using) and let it warm through. Toss in the gnocchi and coat well.

  • Sprinkle in Parmesan and red pepper flakes if using.

  • Add pieces of burrata on top and allow to melt

3. Assemble:

  • Pile the pesto gnocchi into the garlic butter bread bowl.

  • Garnish with extra Parmesan, fresh basil, and maybe a drizzle of balsamic glaze for contrast.

  • Tear off chunks of the buttery bread bowl as you eat—no forks necessary!
