Krusty Krab Krabby Patty with Jellyfish Jelly

Krabby Patty with Jellyfish Jelly

This one’s for the Spongebob Fans! I know I’m not the only one who dreamt of getting my hands on a Krusty Krab Krabby Patty growing up. It was definitely a childhood dream of mine! Although they never revealed all of its ingredients, we know the recipe includes a patty, sea lettuce, onions, sea cheese, chum, pickles, ketchup, mustard, a splash of whee, and a Krabby Patty secret formula that is still under Mr.Krab’s mattress.

For one special episode, there’s another ingredient that definitely peaked my interest as a kid. If you followed the series closely, you know that Jellyfish Jelly is a key topping for Spongebob’s “off-the-menu” burger. Although, No Name wasn’t such a fan. Because I’m almost 27 and still haven’t been able to try a Krabby Patty with Jellyfish Jelly, I thought it was time to make one at home. Of course, I don’t have the secret formula so I guess I have to wing it.. but here goes nothing!

PS: no Jellyfish were harmed in the making of this burger.

Ingredients

For Patties:

  • 1lb Ground Beef
  • 2 tbsp old bay seasoning
  • 1 tsp fresh ground pepper
  • 1 tsp sea salt

For Jellyfish jelly:

  • 3 tbsp grape jelly
  • 1 large white onion
  • 2 tbsp water

For Krabby Patty:

  • 4 toasted sesame seed buns
  • 4 slices of tomato
  • lettuce
  • pickles
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese

For Secret Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp old bay
  • 2 tsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp pickle juice

Steps

  • Mix your ground beef with the old bay, sea salt, and pepper and form into 4 small burger patties
  • chop your white onion into long strips and caramelize on medium heat until translucent (about 25 mins). Add in your jelly and water and continue to caramelize for 20 minutes (this will take awhile but be patient).
  • Once the onions are done, grill your patties and add the cheese on top (I cut mine into sponge bob and Patrick shapes hehe)
  • Now it’s time to build your Krabby Patty: bun, sauce, lettuce, tomato, pickles, patty, cheese, Jellyfish jelly, sauce, bun
